Trafford's vision for 2021 refreshed

Trafford Partnership today reveals its refreshed Sustainable Community
Strategy to present the vision of the future for Trafford, "Trafford
2021: a blueprint".

It sets out the key issues which need to be tackled together, in order
to make Trafford an even greater place to live, learn, work and relax
for all local people, businesses and communities now and in the years to
come.

In refreshing the strategy, the Trafford Partnership wanted to ensure
that the vision and priorities were shaped by the views of local people,
businesses and key public, private, voluntary and community sector
partners. Six clear priorities emerged from these conversations.

These were safety and reassurance; strong and diverse economy; stronger
well connected communities; positive environmental impact; better
homes and health and improved quality of life for all. The Partnership has
made 43 commitments in order to achieve the vision and deliver on these
priorities.

More than 1,500 comments were received about the strategy. These have
helped to shape and improve the strategy. The consultation report
explains where the comments came from and how they have influenced the
development of the strategy and the work of the Partnership. This report will
be available via the Trafford Partnership website at
www.traffordpartnership.org at the end of this month.

Local people expressed strong support for the vision, success factors
and commitments.  What came across really strongly was people's support
for pre 19 education and skills where 96 per cent agreed; even the
lowest level of support, for access to services, was still very high at 73
per cent.

More than three quarters of those under the age of 19 asked, agreed
with the vision with less than one tenth disagreeing

Ralph Rudden, Vice Chair of the Trafford Partnership said:  "During the
past several months the Trafford Partnership has carried out its
largest consultation process to date reviewing and refreshing the Community
strategy.

"The results are now in and thanks to the fantastic response to the
process by the people of Trafford, we are absolutely convinced that we now
have a strategy in place that will be the main driver to achieving our
2021 vision.

"Now is the time for the talking to stop and for the focus to be
entirely on delivering our promises - so watch this place."
