Trafford's exciting Academy plans

Exciting plans for a brand new Academy taking in the current Stretford High and Lostock High Schools took a positive step forward this week after Trafford Council's Executive approved site proposals.

Trafford Council Leader Matt Colledge said: "An Academy is the most appropriate way to bring about significant improvements to the overall educational facilities in the area and address issues of surplus school places at Lostock College.

The proposals are an exciting opportunity to provide local pupils with much improved educational opportunities and links with other organisations such as the nationally accredited Trafford College.  The wider community will also benefit through access to improved sporting facilities being provided in the area of Gorse Hill Park currently used by the school.

Following the Executive approval of the proposals we will now progress to the feasibility stage.  This involves gaining the necessary consents and consulting with the public and other interested parties on the Academy proposals.  We expect this to be completed by the end of March 2010 and would encourage as many people as possible to get involved."
