Destination Parks, Longford Park, Davyhulme Park, Victoria Park and Stamford Park, 3 July - 29 AugustThe Destination Parks programme for 2009 has now begun for the summer of 2009. This exciting programme offers both young people and families the opportunity to enjoy a mixture of activities and fun, and to enjoy the wonder of Trafford's parks.

Friday 17 July, Davyhulme Park, Big Family Day event 4.30pm-8.30pm, pony rides, bouncy castle, food, music and dance, sports coaching, quick cricket, army assault course, face painter, clowns etc.

Saturday 18 July, Davyhulme Park, 6pm-9pm, fancy your chances competing in the Ashes in the future? Give cricket a go with quick cricket, for girls and boys of all ages. Free event.

Friday 17 July, Longford Park, 7pm-9pm, lacrosse for beginners, meet at pets' corner, try out a new sport, all ages.

Saturday 18 July, Longford Park, 6pm-9pm, music and dance with Gorse Hill Studios, meet at pets' corner, age 10+, learn new skills and get involved in enterprise schemes to create arts and items to sell at the Pandemonium Parks festivals in August.

Saturday 18 July, Stamford Park, 7pm-9pm, sports coaching, learn new skills in basketball/football etc, free event for all ages.


 24 July, Longford Park, 4.30pm-8.30pm, Summer Fun in the Park, as above.


 31 July, Stamford Park, 4.30pm-8.30pm, Summer Fun in the Park, as above.


 7 August, Stamford Park, 3.30pm-7.30pm, Sports in the Park, music, dance, pony rides, taster sessions for sports for all the family.


 14 August, Davyhulme Park, 3.30pm-7.30pm, Fun in the Park.


 19 August, Davyhulme Park, 1pm-6pm, Pandemonium Parks, celebrating youth work activities, sports, leisure, arts and music


 22 August, Victoria Park, 1pm-6pm, Pandemonium Parks, as above.


 26 August, Stamford Park, 1pm-6pm, Pandemonium Parks, as above.


 28 August, Longford Park, 3.30pm-7.30pm, Fun in the Park.


Trafford Council’s parks and community safety teams work closely with the youth service at Gorse Hill Studios, Greater Manchester Police and a range of other partners including to develop the activities at Longford Park, Davyhulme Park, Stamford Park and Victoria Park.


Executive Councillor Jonathan Coupe said: "This year's Destination Parks programme is even bigger than last year's event and offers something for young people of all ages whether it be pony riding, football, arts and crafts or music.


"Local people have told us they value their parks and this winter saw the best quality scores ever for their maintenance. These events reinforce the pride we have in the borough's parks through a summer of fun where our green spaces are at the heart of the vibrant activities.





There are a variety of sports and music sessions going oDestination Destinatin Parks aims to encourage the positive use of parks by local people and visitors in a bid to provide diversionary fun activities and ensure crime and anti-social behaviour is crowded out by fun events for all the family.
