Speak out about your parks and green spaces

Trafford’s premier parks, cemeteries, gardens and countryside sites will be judged again this summer as part of the annual Trafford Greenspace Awards - and local people can have their say.

The awards take information from biannual independent maintenance inspections, a judge’s site inspection and feedback from the GreenSTAT online public opinion survey managed by GreenSpace; the national charity for parks and green spaces.

All this information taken together gives a balanced view of each site, allowing awards to be made. In addition this process importantly highlights areas for improvement which helps us to improve the sites and further raise standards.

Executive councillor Jonathan Coupe said: “Research has shown that more than 80 per cent of local people are satisfied with Trafford’s parks and open spaces.

"Although this is fantastic, we never rest on our laurels and always welcome ideas from local people about how we can further improve our green spaces so we can make Trafford an even greener borough. The Greenspace Awards give people the chance to celebrate their parks and open spaces while also providing us with valuable feedback that is taken on board when we plan for the future.”

Park users of all ages and backgrounds are invited to take part in the GreenSTAT survey.
The form only takes a few minutes to complete and can be done online at www.greenstat.org.uk, select North West, then Greater Manchester, then Trafford and select the site you wish to comment on.
