Please ensure your recycling bin and the grey waste bin are out for collection by 6.30am on the day of scheduled collection.
A new calendar for the Council’s Recycling and Refuse Service was delivered to residents in November. To view a copy of the calendar or check your regular collection day online, go to www.trafford.gov.uk and click on ‘When are my bins collected?’. Alternatively you can obtain a calendar by contacting the Council on 912 4000.
The Council is also asking residents to cut down on waste this year by taking on board the following tips: To cut down on extra waste, send e-cards, buy a rooted Christmas tree and plant it in the garden after Christmas, start a compost heap for all those vegetable peelings and use food leftovers (for recipes see www.lovefoodhatewaste.com).
Real Christmas trees can go into the green bin for composting. Remove all decorations and cut your tree into pieces so it will fit in the bin with the lid fully closed.
Christmas cards can go into the blue bin for recycling, except those with glitter/foil on or with batteries.
Wrapping paper can go into the blue bin for recycling, except foil or plastic-based wrapping paper.
Extra recycling can be taken to your local recycling centre or the Household Waste Recycling Centres at Sinderland Road, Broadheath, and Chester Road, Stretford. During winter these are open every day from 8am- 6pm, except Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
