Make a pledge for Recycle Week

Local people are being encouraged to make a pledge for Recycle Week in a bid to help make Trafford a cleaner, greener borough.

This year Recycle Week (taking place from June 22-28) will encourage people to try something new in an effort to go greener and cut back on the waste we all produce.

From recycling more of everyday items like glass and plastic bottles to minimising food waste or composting at home, there are lots of opportunities to promote how we can reduce the amount of waste we send to landfill.

Executive Councillor Jonathan Coupe said: “We can all do our bit to help minimise the amount of waste that gets sent to landfill. I’d encourage residents to take a pledge for Recycle Week and help make a difference. I’m pledging to go waste-free for a day.”

Easy-to-achieve pledges include:

I pledge to…
*       recycle all my cartons
*       recycle all my glass
*       recycle all my newspapers and magazines
*       sort and recycle my old electrical items
*       re-use my carrier bags
*       use my leftovers to make delicious lunches
*       choose peat-free compost
*       home-compost my kitchen and garden waste
*       go waste free for a day
*       donate/recycle my unwanted clothes

You can make your pledge at www.recyclenow.com

You’ll receive details about the positive effect your pledge will have on the environment, plus hints and tips on how to make a difference.

Recycle Week is run by the Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP).
