Match day urinals to be used next season

Mobile urinals piloted in Stretford on Manchester United match days will make a comeback this season following feedback from local people.

The Gorse Hill Partnership, which includes the council and Manchester United, introduced the urinals following reports of anti-social behaviour by football supporters who were urinating in passageways, gardens and in residential areas.

Executive councillor Matthew Colledge said: “We have listened to the feedback from local people, who said that the urinals made a real difference to behaviour on match days, and will be bringing them back during matches throughout the coming football season.

“There will be a public meeting towards the end of September to discuss the scheme, which all local residents will be invited to.”

The urinals will be sited at the three locations previously used: Railway Road, Chorley Street and Brian Statham Way. The units placed on Railway Road will, however, be placed nearer to the gable wall of 24 Sir Matt Busby Way and a privacy screen is to be provided for the benefit of nearby residents.
