Well after a nail biting finish to the Premier League 10 days ago in which Man Utd won for the 10th time, that cup must like Stretford. It was also the 100th anniversay since the first won the league in 1908, the old division one. They hadn't even moved to Old Trafford then that would not happen for another 2 years.
Well now it was must go to Russia to play the first all English European Final to face Chelsea. Utd scored first with Ronaldo in 27 minute only for Chelseas Frank Lampard to equalise in the 45th minute. with no goals in the 2nd half it was in to extra time, again goalless. Now it was down to penalties Ronaldo missed the 3rd then Chelsea went a head., standing at 4 all Chelsea captain John Terry only had to score to lift the cup,but remarkably it hit the post. After securing another penalty each it was now the turn of Ryan Giggs who had come on as sub in the second half which was a historic event as he has now surpassed Sir Bobby Charlton record of most appearances for Man U. Call it what you like but l knew that this was going to be the final goal of the night and it would belong to Ryan before he took it. With Chelsea missing the next the cup was Utds and will be back at Old Trafford Stretford.
All the training they must have done seems to be of no account, as it was all down to fate its was 50th anniversary of the Munich air disaster when perhaps the Busby Babes would have won the tiltle for Man U for the first time, maybe they were watching over this new young team. It was the 40th anniversary since they first won the European Cup which is a Ruby Anniversary which is red. This was won in Moscow which of course has Red Square. Alex Frergerson thinks along these lines as well so it's nice to know great minds think alike.
Well done Alex and the boys for bringing the cup back to Stretford hopefuly with a victory parade soon. If nothing else it gives me something to write about.
