United gets tidy business award

Manchester United Football Club is celebrating after being awarded the highest standard by Trafford Council in their Tidy Business awards scheme.

The club was recognised after having met all the criteria for the Gold Awards.

The awards aim to promote a clean and tidy environment by encouraging the responsible disposal of trade waste along with waste minimisation initiatives.

The club is one of two businesses or organisations that have gained the gold award, with a further 124 businesses achieving bronze.

Gold awards are allocated to those businesses or organisations that go beyond the statutory requirements, promoting recycling to their customers and staff and actively improve their local environment.

Executive councillor Jonathan Coupe said: “This is a great scheme to get businesses on board and it shows that businesses are striving to improve the local environment as well as promoting themselves as responsible businesses.”

George Johnstone, Group Property Manager from MUFC said: “Manchester United is delighted to have achieved gold in this initiative. We take our environmental responsibilities very seriously and achieving this award is a reflection of our commitment.”

The Tidy Business Awards is a free scheme that rewards businesses for managing their waste properly and improving the appearance of their local environment.
